Angelos Charisteas is an international footballer born on 9 February 1980 in Strymoniko, Serres. His football career began at Aris Football Team in 1997, and he soon became known for his scoring abilities.

He played for Aris in 87 matches, scoring 19 goals.

In 2002 Angelos Charisteas was signed by Werder Bremen, gaining professional experience in the team.

He played for Werder in 66 matches from 2002 to 2005, scoring 18 goals and a double, even though the German team rarely trusted him as a first-choice striker. In 2005 he moved to the Netherlands and Ajax.

The 2006-2007 season found Angelos Charisteas at Feyenoord, where he had a good year. In 2007 he agreed to continue his career with FC Nürnberg for 2.5 million euros.

Angelos Charisteas is a football legend for the Greece National Team. The three goals he scored in the 2004 European Championship against heavy-duty teams (Spain, France, Portugal) won Greece the cup and Charisteas a place among the greatest footballers to have worn the blue-and-white strip, as well as a place in every Greek heart.
