Butterfly Valley in Paros

The Butterfly Valley or Petaloudes in Paros is located just 8 km from Parikia. Between May and August, the lush green trees are covered in Jersey Tiger moths. As the tree look like they are dancing, this attracts the butterflies (ok, moths) and the scenery is lovely!

The best way to enjoy the batterfly valley is by mule so you can take a donkey path across the valley. There are organized “expeditions” that leave from Naoussa or Parikia. Of course you can always take a bus and get there on your own.

You can also visit the Convent of Christ in the Woods, located one mile north of the Pataloudes. It bates back to the 18th century. Please note that only women are allowed in the sanctuary.
