The Technological Educational Institute of Western Macedonia was founded in 1976, originally as the Centre of Higher Technological Education (ΚΑΤΕΕ) of Kozani before merging with the ΚΑΤΕΕ of Florina.
Today, as the Technological Educational Institute of Western Macedonia, it has branches in the Prefectures of Florina, Kastoria and Grevena. In the past six years it has been the fastest-developing Institute in Greece.
The Technological Educational Institute of Western Macedonia, as the largest Institution of Higher Education in Western Macedonia, has undertaken the major task of educating young people and bringing the area out of its scientific isolation.

Technological Education Institute of Western Macedonia vision is based on the following aims:
1. Ensuring quality education by transferring the appropriate scientific expertise through teaching and research.
2. Offering students essential assistance through social welfare services during their studies and afterwards if required, in order to ensure a successful future career.
3. Meeting development, intellectual, cultural and social needs at both local and national level.
