Sifnos Archaeological Museum

One of the must-see attractions of Sifnos is the Archaeological Museum, located in the medieval settlement of Castro (castle). It opened as a museum in 1986, after being restored by the Ministry of Culture in early 1980s.
The museum shows sculptures from Archaic to Roman period, pottery from the Castle (Castro) and coins. Among the most important exhibits you can find are Palmette finial, a marble funerary stone dating back to 4th century B.C., a statue representing a female head, also made of marble, from the 4th century B.C., a head of marble kouros, dating from the 6th century B.C., a marble ionic capital, as well from the 6th century B.C. and a marble funerary stele dating from the Hellenistic period.

During the winter period, the archaeological museum is opened from Tuesday to Friday, in weekends and during holidays from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Between 1st of July and 31st of August the museum is opened from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The museum is closed on Mondays all through the year. You don’t have to pay anything to visit the museum.
