Ergotelis Football Team History

Ergotelis is a Greek football team based in Heraklion, the largest city, and capital of the Greek Island of Crete. Ergotelis was established on the 7th of July 1929 by Greeks refugees from Asia Minor who had moved to Heraklion after the Asia Minor Disaster.The name itself, Ergotelis, was that of a famous Cretan Olympics winner.

Ergotelis football team participated in the First Division of Greek championship in the 2005 season but was demoted. In 2006, they won the Second Division football championship and have earned the right to play once more in the top football league in 2006-2007.
