Asteras Tripolis Football Team History

Asteras Tripolis began its history in 1930 in Tripolis town in the Peloponnese region of Greece. After a short period, athletic events were stopped for reasons unknown and the demise of the Asteras Tripolis football team was assured.

After the Second World War the Asteras Tripolis football team was re-established under the name New Asteras Tripolis.

From 1957 until 1963 New Asteras Tripolis was the Champion of the Arkadia League and was one of the founding members of Greece’s 2nd division football league.

The modern history of the Asteras football team starts in 1978 and from then until 2000 the team was a member of the Arcadia local football league. So far Asteras has managed to play in the 4th Division five times and in 2006 it played in the 2nd Division.

As of the 12th May 2007 Asteras Tripolis has been promoted to the Super League of Greece for the 2007-08 season.
