Rhodes Beaches
Rhodes beaches are very nice as all Dodecanese Islands beaches. The extend of the coastline makes it for tourists to enjoy a lot of different places to swim and sunbathe, all with warm and crystal water, white send and modern facilities.
Some of the best beaches of Rhodes are:
- Prassonissi Beach
- Faliraki Beach
- Traganou Beach
- Kalithea Beach
- Kalathos Beach
- Tsabika Beach
- Afandou Beach
Other beaches worth visiting are Agathi Beach, Vagies Bay and Saint Pavlos Beach.
Prassonissi Beach is a long, sandy beach located in south part of the island, 92 km from the City of Rhodes and 40 km from Lindos. The water is crystal clear and the landscape is lovely. The beach is the paradise for surfers mostly during July and August when Meltemi (the north wind) blows. For those who don’t have their own windsurfing equipment, there is the possibility to rent it. Just nearby the beach there are tavern and rooms for rent.
Faliraki Beach in Rhodes is the most developed beach on the island. It’s located in the north-eastern part of Rhodes, at only 14 km from the capital. The sands are golden and the water is crystal clear. There are sun beds available on the beach, as well as umbrellas. Tourist come for water skiing and windsurfing, to name just a few of the sports that can be experimented here. Taverns, restaurants and beach bars are close by or on the beach. The area is full of luxurious hotels.
Traganou Beach in Rhodesis located just 15 km south-east of the City of Rhodes and just 4 km from Faliraki Beach. The part of the beach which is well organized offers sun beds and umbrellas. The beach is not sandy but it’s formed by small colored pebbles. The water is crystal clear. A cave located on one of the beach’s extremities gives the entire place a magical surrounding. A fish tavern is the best place to enjoy some local dishes.
Kalithea Beach in Rhodes is famous for the hot medicinal springs. The beach is located very close to the capital. They were built by Italians but are no longer functional. The palm and pine trees, along with the springs (buildings) create the magnificent scenery.
Kalathos Beach in Rhodes is located 50 km south-east from the capital. The golden sand and the crystal clear water make it a nice place to enjoy sun bathing. There are wooden sun beds and bamboo umbrellas available for rent.
Tsabika Beach in Rhodes is located 26 km south east from the City of Rhodes. The golden sandy beach and the turquoise water, along with water sports and the monastery located just above the beach create the lovely scenery Rhodes is known for.
Afandou Beach in Rhodes offers tourists the possibility to play golf at the golf course located in the village. The beach is made of sand and pebbles but is not as well organized as the other beaches on the island. Some taverns are located just near the beach.
