The Parikia’s foundation goes back in the early Cycladic period when Parikia was an important center for the marble trade. Though during the times, earthquakes have destroyed the earlier settlements you can still find traces of Venetian and Byzantine rule.
Today Parikia is an important tourism center. The port is the ferry hub of the Cyclades and connects the island with all the other islands in the Aegean Sea.
The port is lined up with travel agencies, café bars and shops. Other nice places to visit in the town are: Byzantine church of Ekatontapyliani, the Archaeological Museum of Paros , the ancient Acropolis, fortifications and temples, the Temple of Apollo. Kaminia and Krios beaches are very popular and close by.
Naoussa is located in the north part of Paros island, about 10 km from Parikia. It is the second largest town after Parikia, as well as the second most important. Most of all, Naoussa is one of the most beautiful ports in Greece.
The town of Lefkes is located in the middle of Paros island, about 12 km from Parikia. The town is extremely quiet and remote. You can choose to go to Lefkes for a day trip because a vacation in Paros is not complete without a trip to this lovely town. It is a traditional Greek village, with impressive architecture and little houses and pottery shops.
