Myrtoan Sea
The Myrtoan Sea is a subdivision of the Aegean Sea covering its southwest part, between Cape Sounion and Kythira (Cythera).
According to Greek mythology, it is named after Myrtilus, son of the god Hermes and charioteer of Oenomaus, who drowned when he was thrown into the sea by Pelops.
