Mount Parnassus


Mount Parnassus (2,457m. elevation)

Mount Parnassus or Liakoura. The name Liakoura Mount comes from the ancient Greek Lycoreia. A high (2,457 m. at Likeri peak) mountain range in Central Greece, east of Mount Giona, to which it is connected by the high saddle of Ambliani.

Its overall form is fairly symmetrical (roughly 30×38 km), but it has a complex network of peaks, some of which are covered with sizeable fir forests.

Mount Parnassus played an important role in Greek mythology and the worship of Apollo.
