Photography Exhibition in Greece

Greek Photographs of the 20th century: July-October 2004, Thessaloniki Museum of Photography collection

boissonnas suniumThe exhibition Greek Photographs of the 20th Century consists of works created within the time span of that wondrous as well as horrific century and on the eve of the 21st.

All of them belong to the Museum’s permanent collection. They are works by Greek artists or by artists of Greek origin who have either worked in Greece, or whose work brings forward other, metaphorical aspects of contemporary Greek identity.

The exhibition is an anthology of works that aims to highlight, elliptically and metaphorically, the country’s portrait through 20th century photography. Furthermore it aims to set a concise outline of the evolution of greek photography through the work of more or less renowned artists.
