Pirgos traditional houses in Crete Greece is one of the few Cretan buildings of the 15th century. Near Rethymnon, the Pirgos Tower is a building of exceptional architecture built by the Venetians and officially recognised as a historical preserved building. The owner started restoring it at the beginning of 2005, under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture archaeologists, using only traditional structure materials and handmade furniture. Pirgos is surrounded by stone- made verandas, a big yard with barbeque and a garden with lemon trees and other kinds of Cretan flora. There is a swimming pool and children΄ pool for guests with views of the sea, valley and mountains. All the rooms are traditionally built with stone walls, a wooden roof of cypress ledger boards, handmade furniture, carefully chosen decoration, a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, A/C, central heating and electronic equipment. Pirgos offers a unique setting for a memorable holiday on Crete.
