Mykonos

mykonos

Mykonos (or Myconos) is one of the Cyclades islands in south Aegean Sea. It is located between Tinos, Siros, Paros and Naxos, having an area of 86 square km. It is made of granite and, as all the islands in the Cyclades, has little water.

Mykonos lies almost in the center of the Cyclades islands (Cyclades means the circle islands, because they form a circle around Delos).

How to get to Mykonos

Mykonos is very easy to get to. It is easily reached from most international airports via Athens. It has daily ferry connections with Piraeus, Rafina, Tinos, Syros, Paros, Naxos, Santorini, Ios and Andros. It’s frequently connected to Crete (Heraklion), Amorgos, Astypalaia, Kos, Rhodes and Samos and less frequently connected to Sifnos, Ikaria, Serifos, Thessaloniki, Kalymnos, Nissyros, Tilos.

There are daily flights from Athens (the flight takes about 50 minutes) and several flights from Santorini, Crete and Rhodes. There is a regular ferry boat service from the Port of Piraeus to Mykonos and the trip takes between four and five hours.
